When: Sunday, May 16 from 12h to 14h + from 16h to 18h
Where: to be picked up in Kampenhout, Wildersedreef 23
Price: Main course = 15 euro per portion. Dessert = 4.50 euros per portion
MENU
Choice of meat or fish:
- - Carne de rez guisada (stewed beef Dominican style)
- Filete de platija* en salsa ajillo a la crema (dab fillet* in a garlic cream sauce)
* Pescado blanco sin espinas comparable al filete de lenguado (white fish without bones similar to sole fillet)
Choice of 2 types of rice:
- - Arroz blanco (white rice Dominican style)
- Moro* de garbanzos (colored rice with chickpeas*)
* Moro is a typical Dominican rice preparation, the rice is cooked together with beans or peas giving you a colored rice.
The meals are served with as a side dish: "Arepitas de Yuca" (fritters of Maniok*)
*Maniok or Cassava is an edible root vegetable commonly eaten in Africa and South America.
Dessert:
- Quesillo Dominicano (Dominican style flan caramel with Dominican vanilla, cinnamon & nutmeg).

- Pollo guisado en salsa de coco (braised chicken in a coconut milk sauce)
- Filete de tilapia a la plancha acompañado de una salsa virgen (tilapiafilet a la plancha served with a "sauce vierge*")
*Fresh sauce consisting of: fresh tomatoes, spring onion, olive oil and lime juice.
Choice of 2 types of rice:
- Arroz blanco (white rice the Dominican way)
- Arroz con vegetales (colored rice with vegetables*)
*Romano beans, broccoli, yellow carrot, orange carrot, peas and corn.
Side dish: "Tostones" (crispy fried plantains). Unlike the fried plantains from the 1st edition, the "Tostones" are not sweet but salty.

- Camarones en salsa de tomate al ajillo (shrimps in garlic tomato sauce)

- Arroz blanco (white rice the Dominican way)
- Moro* de habichuelas (colored rice with brown beans)
*Moro is a typical Dominican rice preparation, the rice is cooked together with beans or pigeon peas to obtain a colored rice.
Side dish: corn fritters.
Since it was Easter Sunday, customers also received a small gift with their order. A typical Dominican dessert that we eat at Easter. I gave these as a riddle so people could try to guess what the main ingredient was. Only 1 person guessed it😊. The name of the dessert = Habichuelas con Dulce, literally translated beans with sugar. This is a dessert based on "Red Beans". Yes, you read it right "Red Beans" in a dessert. Believe me, it is really worth tasting. 2 options either you love it or you don't like it at all. Only 1 way to find out by tasting it.
