Who Am I?

My name is Daniela, I am 35 years old and cooking is my passion.

Growing up in the Caribbean on the island of Bonaire my love for cooking started when I was just a kid. I can still feel the warm tropical breezes flowing through the kitchen windows where I would help my mother cook. The aroma of “Sazón”, a homemade Dominican seasoning teased me and drew me to the pots where I’d lift each lid and stir so I could better smell the delicious spices.

I still love making “Pastelitos”, a typical Caribbean savory treat made from fried pastry dough filled with cheese or meat. My mother and I would make “Pastelitos” for the players of my father’s baseball team. We’d watch him play and this is where I met the players and their wives and learned to love sharing my passion for cooking by making treats for them.

At the age of nine my mother signed me up for a Dominican pastry course where I was the youngest participant in the group. I would bring home the delicacies that I made that day. My sister loved to dig into them when she smelled the Dominican vanilla the minute, I carried them into the car warm from the oven.

My love for food continued after we moved to the Netherlands and I attended the Hotel School in Rotterdam spending the entirety of the first two years practicing my craft by working at the school’s restaurants. This inspired me to create new things, and I combined Dominican and/or Caribbean dishes with European and American cuisine.

An internship at a restaurant called La Place in Rotterdam is where I learned the most by working in all areas of the show cooking restaurant. At the end I rediscovered my love for baking by working in the bakery.

Living now in Belgium I started baking for the special occasions of family & friends where I could combine my school and work knowledge with self-exploration to create unique delicacies such as my custom-made cakes.

I am very excited to share my passion for delicious food where I offer a fusion of unique flavours. I would love it if you joined me on my journey where my business is not only about baking, but about pastries, dishes, and drinks that are simply “Gustosos” (Tasty). So, stay tuned as I keep developing and keep adding new things to my website.
